The Georgia Golf Champions Foundation wants georgiagolfchampions.org to work for everyone, including people who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, magnify the page, or need strong contrast to read. This statement says what we have done, what we know still needs work, and how to reach us when something gets in your way.

The standard we build to

The site is designed and built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the standard most organizations and governments use to define an accessible website. The guidelines cover visual, hearing, physical, speech, cognitive and learning disabilities.

What that means on this site

Every page can be used with a keyboard alone. The place you are on the page is always visible. Headings are in order so a screen reader can move through a page the way a sighted visitor scans it. Every image that carries meaning has a text description. Text and buttons meet the contrast levels the guidelines set. The page still works when text is enlarged to twice its size. Form fields have labels. The contact form says plainly what needs fixing when something is missing. Links say where they go, and a link that opens another website says so. Nothing moves or flashes on its own.

How we check

The site was tested before launch with automated checks and by hand, at desktop and phone sizes, including keyboard-only use and a screen reader. We test again when we add new features. We do not use an accessibility overlay or widget; problems are fixed in the site itself.

What we know about

Some parts of the site come from other organizations. We cannot promise they meet the same standard. The giving form on our Donate page is provided by Givebutter. The tournament schedule links to entry pages run by the GSGA, the Georgia PGA, the USGA and the junior tours. Our partner mr. stat is a separate website. If any of them is hard for you to use, tell us and we will help you get what you need another way.
